Personal Training for Health Conditions in Islington
Specialist one-to-one coaching from a trainer with a medical background, Level 4 qualifications in Obesity and Diabetes, and Exercise Referral certification
Most personal trainers will tell you they work with "all fitness levels". That is not quite the same as working with people who have real health conditions — asthma, type 2 diabetes, obesity, chronic back pain, or cardiovascular conditions — and knowing how to do it safely and effectively.
I have a medical background, and I understand how the body responds to exercise when it is managing a health condition. I also understand the anxiety that comes with starting to train when you have been told to be careful.
That background changes how I coach.
Conditions I Work With
Type 2 diabetes — exercise is one of the most effective tools for managing blood glucose, and I know how to programme safely around it
Obesity — I hold a Level 4 qualification in Obesity and Diabetes, which goes well beyond standard personal training
Asthma and respiratory conditions — I understand how to build cardiovascular fitness without triggering symptoms
Chronic back pain and postural issues — I am a Corrective Exercise Specialist (CES), trained to identify and address movement dysfunction
Cardiovascular conditions — I am Exercise Referral qualified, meaning I am trained to work with people referred by their GP or healthcare provider
Sedentary lifestyle and deconditioning — if you have not exercised in years, or have been told by a doctor to start moving, this is where I start
What Is Exercise Referral?
Exercise referral is a scheme used by the NHS and GPs to refer patients with chronic health conditions to qualified exercise professionals. For many conditions, structured physical activity is as effective as — or more effective than — medication alone.
The problem is that most people referred through the scheme end up in a group class at a leisure centre, with a generic programme and very little individual attention.
At Oryan Fitness, you get a private studio, one-to-one coaching, and a trainer with both the clinical understanding and the practical qualifications to work with your condition properly.
My Qualifications
I qualified as a personal trainer in 2016 and opened Oryan Fitness studio in Islington in 2023. My qualifications include:
Level 3 Personal Training Diploma
Level 4 Certificate in Obesity and Diabetes
Exercise Referral qualification
Corrective Exercise Specialist (CES)
Medical background
When you tell me you have been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, or that you have had a cardiac event, or that your consultant has told you to lose weight before surgery — I understand what that means, and I know how to build a programme that works with your condition rather than against it.
My Qualifications
Training takes place in a fully private studio in Islington N1 — one client at a time, no members, no gym floor. For people managing health conditions, that environment matters. There is no pressure, no comparison, and no audience.
Unit 9, The Ivories, 6 Northampton St, Islington, London, N1 2HY — 5 minutes from Essex Road Station, 10 minutes from Angel.
Getting Started
If you have a health condition and want to start training safely, the first step is a free consultation. We talk through your health history, your goals, and what a realistic programme looks like for you.
If you have been referred by your GP or a healthcare professional, bring any relevant documentation to the first session.
